General Candidate Info
The Juneau Ski Patrol is a good group
of volunteers providing support to Eaglecrest Ski Area. Joining our team is a great opportunity to enhance your mountain
skills and help make winter recreation safe and fun for all to enjoy.
Membership requires a certain degree of committment
yet the rewards are worthwhile. Our training program takes approximately one full ski season to get checked off, and
includes:
* Interview / Skills Evaluation * National Ski Patrol Outdoor
Emergency Care Course (EMT Certified and above candiates can take a challenge exam) * Mountain
Procedures * Toboggan Handling Skills Clinics * Learn Sweep Routes
* Pre-Season Refreshers in Lift Evacuation, Avalanche & Beacon Search, CPR/AED
Cost of membership for the 2011-12
season is based on a fee schedule of the Alaska Division and National Ski Patrol. This annual dues amount
will be announced at the September 22-23 meeting in September (most likely under $70). Some training materials are covered
by the Juneau Ski Patrol, but there are some class/exam fees as well as minimal initial costs for supplies. (New members
that paid after July 1 are covered for this season.)
New candidates are always welcome! Strong skiing and
good communication skills are key. Thanks for your interest.
